Hello! Just acquired a bolens front mounted PTO. I plan on trying to run a generator on this PTO. I was wondering if any one knows what attachment were run on this front mounted PTO. Thanks again Steve,,,,

The 18704 converts the Bolens 2000 RPM PTO to the "standard" agricultural 540 RPM PTO.

It would be used to run things that didn't require a lot of power like hay elevators, grain augers, etc.

There ware a couple of different front PTO units.

One was just a direct drive with a pulley, another gave 540 RPM that was turned 90 deg to the tractor, and there was one made by RoWay that went straight out the front.

Here's a brochure on the RoWay that shows it being used with a hay elevator:

The Bolens PTO speed is not 2000 RPM. The ratio on the tubeframes was 1:1 for a max of 3600 RPM.

The 18704 PTO kit was also 3600 RPM, but could be lowered depending on engine speed.
Different size pulleys were also available which would lower the RPMS.

Looks like I read my Attachment Guide wrong. It appears that the 18905 was the 540.

I though that that the PTO pulleys were different sizes which reduced the 3600 engine speed down to 2000 PTO output.

sieborg400, how about a pic or two so we know what we are talking about?

Thanks again! Bolens 1000 you said the pto speed on my tube frame is 3600 rpm. I can run a direct drive to a generator head of about 4000 watts with a 10 hp engine. I was hoping some day to I would come accross a generac gen built for a bolens but I think I can build one using this set up! if some one has pics of the original generator for the tube frame that would really help me. Thanks Steve...

Yes, the speed of the PTO is rated at 3600RPM at full throttle.
I have the same PTO attachment you posted a picture of. Where did you get yours from?

I found it on ebay! I paid the price! But I think i can use it to power a generator? I really need to see a pic of the original gen set that was used on the tube frame. We loose power twice a year around here. Thank for any info you have!!!!!

Did you win this recently?
I usually check ebay daily and dont recall seeing this on there.
You can power basically anything you want with this attachment, so I am sure you could fabricate something that would hold a generator on the front.
Are you planning on having the Generator be stationary on the ground and move the tractor up to it or are you looking on mounting it directly to the tractor where you can drive with it?

Yes Buy it now!The original generac is a direct drive! I will use simple angle iron and a new brushless gen set head. Go on line PTO generator belt driven! attach a bolens drive shaft and it's running! It will be a challege but I think I can do It!!!!
