A buddy of mine bought a C105 with a tiller and it is stuck in high range have not looked at a parts diagram yet.He is supposed to give me the model number and serial number later on the phone ,is there something I can do to get this to shift before tearing it down?

If the PO never took it out of high range, I wonder if the detent ball is stuck / rusted. You might get some good penetrating oil on the shaft a few times and see if it starts to loosen up. Just don't wail on it, the exploded view looks like either the pin or the fork could be bent if the wrong pressures are applied.

the 8 speed is close to the end of the manual.

Did you get this to work? Didn't think so! 99.9% of the time, a hi/lo issue requires splitting the case!
