I have a 1980??? Ariens Gt16, and I love it. Bought it this fall, and had to replace the hydraulic hoses. Other than that it ran great… until the right deck pulley came off and the belt got eaten by the blades. Found that the pulley had been welded on to its shaft by the last owner. Fixed that, and now I need a belt. I haven’t been able to find anywhere that tells me what length belt to use, or how to replace it. Is there a good go to source for this kind of information. Bought a repair manual on line that said it covered this model, but it is of no use, wasted money. Any suggestions? My grass is getting tall.
Thanks in advance,

Don

PS This is truly a wonderful machine to drive and to use.

Hi Don, saw your post. You can go to www.ariens.com and use the parts locator if you have your model number to get the exact part number for your belt. Then go to www.jackssmallengines.com to see if they have the belt, they should. Ebay occasionally has belts for Ariens tractors as well. You can also buy the parts manual for your tractor at the ariens site. They are pretty reasonable ($9 or so) and pretty quick to get them to you. Good luck. Gatecat.

Additional note: Although the model number from your tractor can help get you to the deck, easiest is to use the model number from your deck which should be on it somewhere.
