Well I found this last night on Craigslist and couldn't pass it up. It is a MTD990 in White's Hardware decals and tags. Going to get it in a few days. It is supposed to be a good running machine and only needs a mower deck spindle rebuilt. Has 2sp rear-end and 3pt on it, also 16hp B&S...

good find !
looks to be all original. even has the original muffler.

if its a good runner you will not be disappointed with the power this machine puts to the ground. if the 3pt. draft arms are not there try to talk down the price...they are hard to find and expensive when found.
i wouldnt change a thing on that ole girl. this was probably sold at a "White's" hardware store and they had the factory put there name on the decals. but id say its a Dayton....could be wrong though.

I like that grill, somehow reminds me of the old White trucks and buses. Because you said this is a MTD, I'm guessing that there is not a connection between the old White Motors and this except in my memory bank, right? Good luck with the new unit :orangecool:

Great tractor Brian. I can see why you jumped all over it. I hope it is as nice in person as those photos. Congrats.

Thanks Daniel, I like the looks of this GT, but never heard of "White's". Maybe someone can tell me where they are located. I know it's a MTD990 decaled for this Co.

Well Brian, by now you've got it home. Hope your trip up Hwy 281 was pleasant as it't a nice drive through the hill country. Can't wait to hear how that tractor works out for you.

Well, It's home. I need to clear up that this is a White's Hardware 990, not a White Tractor Corp. White's was a Central Texas Hardware store, not sure how many stores they had.

Here is a couple more pictures to hold Y'all over til tomorrow...
