-----------Kenny, Any chance this is a B43M? The 446 Manual says mine would have been a BF-MS C19029---The Same?

If the tractor is a GT16, then it's a B43M, if it's a GT 18, then it's a B48M (18hp). I have a Sear with the B48M--it has approx. 400 hours on it and runs good. I think the engines are the same size so either way you could probably use it in a Case.

One Caveat: Some of the Onan engines had external oil filters, and some didn't (My Sears doesn't)--this may come into play when swapping them out due to clearance issues, etc.

Oil filters on these are in a spot that won't cause too much of an issue. Here's a shot of my B43M with oil filter:

Thanks for the info.

I don't know how it's mounted in the Case, but in the Sears GT18, that would be almost impossible to reach, as it's crammed under the side shield and dashboard...probably why the Sears models didn't have filters on them.

Regards,

Steve

Thankx gentlemen for your help-I'll revisit the Sears again for possibilities as I'm getting close ($$$) to buying an engine-The guy at the honey hole is reluctant to sell the Sears-so it won't be cheap.

I have a Case 442, but no engine-- bought it for scrap price along with a hydraulic roto-tiller. I also have a 195 with engine, but needs some work. Both are missing some tin-- the 195 doesn't have a hood, etc. If you have any extra parts, I'd be interested in them as I want to get the 442 running... I'm thinking of re-powering it with either a Chinese diesel, or a Kubota vertical twin... not sure how easy it would be but it's definitely a project that would keep me out of the pool halls. ;o}

I'm a long time getting back in Smitty I have approximately 7 hot projects currently and thus far NONE have kept me out of a pool hall

From the pic Kenny it will fit-no problem.

A partial update-The engine I bought is a B43M-GA016/3622. I have taken pics of my new goodies but now can't find my Camera software-I'm certain to be punished for "photo-delay" but I'll have to take my medicine.

OK found so here's the happy couple with the engine in the box. I'll have to do some digging to learn the eng mfr date.

I'll wait patiently for the pics. Maybe you can find the software online and get it back in there?

If you need any parts for the B43 let me know as I have one here with 2 busted rods. I'm swapping in a P218.

I'll definately do that. The engine needs an OH, but I haven't been able to get into it yet.
I have another trip to make next week and then its back to the 446. PO said it was running-but knocking and thats all I know thus far.

I could use the ID plate off that B43 if no one has a need for it. I don't have one on mine!

Kenny the ID plate off of a Case Onan would just end up screwing someone up someday. I think you'd be better to go to the SEW site and attempt to figure out what the spec number is of your engine and put it on the tin with a set of number stamps or a Sharpie.

I'd use that chart, except mine came from either a carpet shampoo rig or an insecticide spray rig. Kinda hard to find a spec # for those!

Did the crank survive?
