I've never seen a 442 at any shows around Ky. 446's are everywhere. Another thing...while I love my Onan engines, parts aren't nearly as easy to get as Kohler parts.

Yeah Daniel, Thats part of the issue in my neck of the woods parts are hard to come by and/or buy it elsewhere and frieght becomes an issue.--This is the first 400 series Case I've seen -period.

That's the parts manual for the 442. Look in the manuals section here on GTT and you will find other manuals there that will be of great help as you go along. Eastman Industries also has parts manuals there on their site. (Eastman makes these GTs now)

If you need 16 HP and you aren't concerned about keeping it 100% stock I think you could fit a K341 in there if you come across one.

I'm now having a minor delema re: hood-it will eventually work itself out but the good 446 (Onan) hood will "fit" the 442 (Kohler)somewhat except engine "notches etc are different and I eventually have to find the correct hood but WHAT correct hood?

Thomas1600's old post http://gardentractortalk.com/forums/topic/5756-case-442-questions/ shows different "paint scheme " than either of the manuals for both his and mine Pin #s. Those show the scheme to be the same as the 446, only 442 near the dash. I haven't found his anywhere and his Pin # is within 300 of mine ???? (His shows "CASE" and "442" in large block letters on the side of the grill.

I'm kinda partial to the 446.....mostly 'cause I like mine. The Kohler motor in the 442 might be less expensive to repair/replace. There are usually a bunch of parts for them on ebay.

I managed to get the 446 home before the rain hits. I can't get to the 442 yet and with this rain coming it may be a couple of weeks.

I would fix both if you can find the time and $$$. The Onans seem to either run well and run a long life or run your wallet empty, seems to depend on preventative maintenance. I have a 195 which was replaced by the 442 and I have an Ingersoll 446 which is a long frame. The 442 wasn't made but 2-3 years. Seems aside from the K301 and decals it was the same as a 444 but either way parts are all over ePay, same with the 446. Good running Onan's can be found for $500-750 around here, and JD, Wheel Horse used them also. My 446 has a B43M in it. Once I switched from a hydrostatic drive to a hydraulic Hydriv I am NEVER going back!

I'll do some checking on e-Bay for parts-and Yeah that Hydriv has to be the way to go. Being a Hydraulic guy,I'm really looking forward to this-I would like to build both if I can-442 is mostly complete except for hood and grill and I think they shared it with some of the 220s and 440s-shipping will be a problem though. I can make the hood, but not the grill.

-----------Kenny, Any chance this is a B43M? The 446 Manual says mine would have been a BF-MS C19029---The Same?
