MF10/12 deck rebuild
Posted June 11, 2010 - 12:21 AM
The spindle I pulled apart had a Torrington Y-160 (I think, the last digit is tough to make out) needle roller bearing and a Hoover (Japan) ball bearing Z9504B. It appears there was another drive in seal, but it was so bad I can't make anything out.
A little help woud be appreciated, I'm sure someone else has rebuilt theirs.

I ordered the bearings from Accurate Bearing on-line for the best prices I could find after searching. (800) 323-3116 (ask for Lynne)
NICE 7488-8 (3.75 each) Upper bearings
Torringington B-1616 (4.90 each) 1" wide lower bearings - these are 50% wider than the stock for more shaft to bearing contact. Plenty of room to install these in the housing.
Trans-Com 10122TC (2.00 each)
Here are some photos of the rebuild.

Maybe next year I can swing it and buy new blades and belts! My wife has been giving me "That look".... But if I only did the expensive mechanical part, I bet it would be just fine... Paint it all glossy red and it's "too much". LOL
