Hi GTT,
I promised "Bolens1000" and "redcarkids" that I would post photos of my 900. "1967 bolens collector" mentioned that the dash tower is missing. Well, it's missing a whole lot more than that. In my last post I mentioned that I purchased the 900 because I wanted the snowthrower attachment and the seller wasn't going to part with it separately. For $275, I thought I could keep the snowthrower and resell the 900.
Somebody replaced the Wisconsin engine with a pull-start Tecumseh engine, which lacks in power and leaks gas. There's no dash panel or tower. It's difficult to get it in gear. The hood is rusted and almost falling off. It does run however.
When I get on ebay and craigslist, I don't see the parts that the 900 needs. Is this tractor worth the time, money, and effort? I see posts where you guys strip your tractors down to nothing and rebuild them from the ground up. Where do you get parts?
Thank You,

Thanks for posting the pictures... If I were you and wanted to get a 900 running I would probably use this one for parts and find another one with the original engine that is more complete.
Just from a quick overview it would cost you more to buy the missing parts than what you can get a whole complete 900 for.
The hood has a pretty decent size chunk taken out of it.

It also depends on how handy you are or want to be. If you don't want the 900, offer it for parts and get something complete and running you like. I have enough projects myself, so I made a rule. It doesn't come home unless it gets on the trailer under it's own power.

Me, I would sell the 900 and look for something complete and running. Just my .02.

I agree with everyone else, looks to be a parts mower. There are lots better examples to restore out there with the original motor and missing parts. Thanks for the photos though. If the mower is running ok as is then use and abuse it with the snow blower or some attachments. Get as much use out of it as you can.
