Just go nice and slow when your trying to remove the pulleys from the spindle shaft as they are often rusted on and require a puller to get them off. Once you get the pulley and shaft out you can get at the bearings.

I would recommend if you are going to go through the deck to replace the idler pulleys, and belt as well.

thanks doc after i got the first one off which was very hard i saw it had 2 set screws in it so on the next 2 i loosened the set screws and they came off much easier with puller of course. bearings on one was no good but the other 2 felt really good, replace 2 or six? the gear box has about i/8 slop in am i allright with that?

While you got everything apart I would replace all bearings.
I would pull the gear box apart and clean and inspect the seals, bearings ect and replace what ever is worn.
If you do it right the first time you will save yourself headaches later on... A year or two down the road those 2 bearings will have to be replaced.
And remember, its alot easier to replace things now instead of trying to do it later and get your new paint job all scratched up
