Case 448 with Onan 18 hp motor was running ok. Doing service tune up i see there is no condenser or breaker points (the breaker box is there and wired to coil). Anybody seen this before or know why its like this. It was suggested to me that someone (I inherited this garden tractor) converted the ignition system. I'm a newbie and this is lost on me. :confuse:

There used to be a conversion kit, but as I understand is NLA unless you find a old unit on a dusty shelf. I don't know what it involves or how it hooks up. What is inside the points box that the coil is connected to? I do know the unit uses capacitive discharge, so the capacitor is internal the the control unit.

You should really provide more information like what 18hp engine is in your tractor.
It may have a replacement engine like my 448 that has a model P218 with electronic ignition.

In your other thread you said you did a tuneup. What was involved in that?
