I think they were expanded metal like Maynard said. I believe some may have been like a round bar grill top thing, I could be, and probably am wrong.

I went out and took a pic of my 125 parts machine. The grille is just expanded steel. Should be easy to make one and any local machine shop would have the material. If you want a lil flair you can get raw product in aluminum and it looks chrome.

Stucco mesh has a raised edges on the wire to catch and hold the stucco. The grill mesh is a flat expanded metal, you can get it from any fab. shop. They should be able to shear and sell you only what you need. Without measuring it, it appears to be 1/4" mesh.

I think it was painted silver. Maybe one of the Cub guys will give you a better answer.

Your close, they actually were not painted at all. They had a zinc anodized finish on them that gave them a silvery color. There are actually two different versions of this size and shape of grill that will fit into a 125. The original style used in the 1x4/1x5 which the others have shown in their pictures and then the updated style that was used in the 1x6/1x7 series of tractors. This style had an area running down each side of the mesh where the mesh was flattened out.

You can sorta make it out on this picture of my 106.
