I was getting our Troy Bilt GT14 Hydro ready for the guys here at the shop to mow with. When I hit the key, it turned over about 3 times and then the starter sounded like it was engaging any more. I removed the tins to find that the starter threw the bendix off the end of the starter shaft. Can I get a replacement bendix or have to buy a new starter? The engine from what I can find out is a B & S 14 HP opposed twin.

As good as I can tell from looking at your pics, you need part #150118 which replaces Briggs part #495878 found here:

Thanks Guys, I got a new bendix at the parts store and it's back together. Got to get it back on the tractor this afternoon.

Good deal. Someone gets to mow now.

Spent some time mowing today myself. Onions sure smelled good. :smile1:
