I'm going to go way out on a limb here and offer you my services. This seems to be causing a lot of turmoil in both your lives so I will offer to take the 3 point and store it for a few years until you two settle down. I don't do this but once in a blue moon :p so you really should accept my offer. I will pay the freight and there will be no storage charges ever.
Your welcome! :laughingteeth:

I don't belive it is a QT16 at all.I belive it is a QT17 with a 17hp kohler at least thats what the decal looks to say on the rear fender.I could be wrong but i have never seen the QTwith that style decal as all the QT16 i have seen had the black decals. Now i could be wrong as i have never seen a QT16 with this decal setup.

Something seems fishy about this ad......

Take a look... I think he pulled the photo of the tractor he is selling right from the Sonny's Bolens site

The tractor in the pic is indeed a QT17 like Bob mentioned in the post above

Guess I'm not getting a 3 point hitch. Somebody should be able to replicate the rear pivot point allowing use of aftermarket 3 point arms....

well, he stopped replying to me, so I'm guessing it's a scam... oh well. I don't really need a 3 point, my bottom plow and my new 1 row planter both work on sleeve hitch setups... but the cool factor of a 3 point plus the other implements I could get make it tempting...

well, called the guy, agreed on a price of $300 and was waiting for him to tell me to mail it or whatever... ended up giving me his address and I went and picked it up :) Proud new owner of a 3 point with the top link and came with a draw bar too. I asked him about the pics and he said his camera was giving him fits... the tractor was a green striped qt-16 though..... and in good shape if anybody is looking... I'll post pics of my 3 point tomorrow when it's light.

bolens part.JPG well, I had a slight problem today with the 3 point hitch, I figured it wouldn't be a big problem but now I don't know. Anyhow, one of the bearing blocks was cracked and today it came all the way apart. I called around looking for some used ones or NOS but I may have to fabricate one. I am in the process of cold mig welding the cast iron but I doubt that'll hold up. But it'll let me 'show it off' until I get one made. Sam Bolens is looking...

That would be awesome... I got mine welded up and it seems okay but doubt it would handle the stress of the 3 point... I'll put it on and play with it. I mig welded it spot welds only to minimize heating of the cast. Tried to keep the whole thing cool, allowed it to cool in between welds and none of the welds seemed to crack and it seems strong but like I said I have no idea about how much stress it'll take.

Oh, I edited this post to say I'm not a welder or a machinist or a metallurgist... it looked like cast iron and I used my craftsman (ducking) 110 volt mig welder to weld it. Thats all.

I belive i have some new ones and will check tomorrow.
