Chris, what HP was the Clone, and what was it branded as? I just got a 13 HP Predator for my Springfield 12 HP tractor overhaul.

Don't get me wrong they are good engines, just make sure you do the valve lash adjustments at regular intervals. I got mine on a 175 psi 25 cfm compressor that I found on CL, I am happy as I can sand blast all day and never have to stop ( only to refill)

Chris, Thanks, I will monitor the bolts/screws during use. I did not get rice with mine, it was a new engine I traded for. As for name changing I can't figure out anything but that the parts interchange with Honda, and when the Predator goes, I will buy a stripped Honda and bolt the clone parts on it lol.

Being new you should not have the same problem, You only get that if someone took it apart before (as they use thread locker when built) or rice glue i'm not sure. I have tested every part out there, everything is same as honda.heck a new carb is only $20 with gasket and shipping! But again if you buy a carb take the bowl off and dump out the rice. :p

That's the sad part, most folks haven't a clue where things are made anymore.

I figured new was good. Sad thing is I'm gonna be the one to take some things off, have to modify the air cleaner and the exhaust to fit the tractor lol. It was just scary that the shaft size and height was identical to the frozen Kohler I am taking off the tractor (1" shaft, 5.25" to top of frame)

Just bought a bearing for my Peerless 2300. The original was Japan, the new one that cross references.. is China. Good thing this is a slow speed application..

Just use blue thread locker on it (NEVER RED) and you will never have a problem!

Oh I know what you mean, Rice Balls in the bearings break up @ 2000 RPM  at least the Japan ones have Sushi balls , there soft and don't break apart as easy. But they will flake if heated to 350 deg for 10 minutes :laughingteeth:
