  • Got back in today.....then left to pick up a trailer that had showed up on craigslist locally last night......hogs still on the trailer...I am going to be tied up tomorrow and saturday so I will not be ablet to get them off the trailer till then....not happy about that!
  • Went by the local massey place today with them....it was raining......but told them what i had on the trailer and asked about the manuals again......she took my name and number and said they would look for them.....cross you fingers that they have some new manuals we can scan up.

Well got a few minutes on the repainted one this evening.....good news the motor does turn (starter generator turns but was hard to turn by hand).... pulled carb and will clean tonight.......drain oil.....tanks is clean inside so good news there.....

Troy I pushed it and it actually rolled (it is still on the trailer at this point).....so you were right, it must have had a frozen transmission due to some water in the transmission that night......

Ordered a rebuild kit for the other rusty ones tecumseh and a float......looking forward to hearing it run and actually driving it.

That is one good looking haul. Good luck with them. The more I see of them the more I want one someday.

When that thick gear oil is cold, it's hard enough to push, but mix in ice crystals & chunks, and you may not be able to budge them. Good to hear the engines are both free!

Well pulled the spark plug on the repainted on late yesterday and was looking to see if the piston was moving.....no such luck......so the wisconsin is busted and will need major work. :confuse: I do have another parts d4-10 coming that has a working tecumseh 10 so that is always an option.

Thanks Guys.....just consider me to be a "southern wannabe daniel".......he is the master of these....I am just a student.
But I can not wait to get this cleaned up and bring them to my local tractor show this coming fall......bet I get a few "I did not know bush hog made a garden tractor" comments. :bounce:

Be interested in connecting with others down my way that have these ..........
I wanted to stop by Georges and see his again but I was strapped for time......plus I knew he would have been busy working on the new system and did not want to bother him.
Much thanks to Troy, Craig, and Al........all fellow GT members that without them I would not have them on my trailer.
Now we just need to get a southern GT tractor show going so we have a place to show off our finds and restorations......

sacsr don't forget olg fashion farmers day @silk hope nc 9/2-9/4 i'll be there hopefully with my bolens ans simplicity check the web site

Daniel the one that has the tecumseh has white rims.....I know the front rims and tires are incorrect (I have the originals)....any chance the rears are correct/white?? Any chance they were ever white from the manufacturer? Every picture and brochure I have ever seen they were yellow.

Scott, I have the D4-12 with factory white rims and if you TEC D4-10 was built about the same time, then those wheels maybe original.

I agree, I think the later D series tractors had white rims. Question is when did they start painting them white?

Since my 12 is so early, (serial 101) I wonder if it might have started when the 12 was introduced.

Would be a reasonable assumption at this point.
