This is the way I do the bearings. If they have just been lubed I will "snug" up the spindle nut and spin the wheel a few revolutions to squeeze the excess grease out of the bearing. The loosen the nut back up. Put a 12 inch crescent wrench on the nut and let the handle drop to apply preload on the bearings. Install the the keeper so it's half a hole off then back it up and install the cotter pin. I haven lost a wheel yet. Would like to hear how others do it.
