Hi all,
New to the form with questions on my mower deck. I bought a belly mower deck for my tractor that I am trying to find out some information on. It was made by the Dura corporation. The tag says Dura subsidiary of the Walter Kidde co. Zanesville Oh, 43701. the model number is hard to read but it has M-54 MM the number between the 54 and MM is not visible. The serial number is 100113. any information on this mower deck would be appreciated. I got the mower deck with a Beaver tractor I was parting out. Thanks for your time in advance Ron.

 Ron 46 Welcome to GTTalk! Some additional information about the tractor that you're putting it on may be helpful, as well as some pictures of the deck and the application. Thanks for signing up!

Welcome to the forum.

Being made by Dura, it could be from a Moto-Mower.
A quick search suggests that Kidde purchased Dura in the 1960s - I'm guessing late 1960s.

The smaller moto-mower decks have a horizontal shaft and gear-boxes. Very rectangular in shape.
The larger decks have a single gear-box that runs a belt that drives the blades.

Pictures will help make this a bit less of a guess.

I looked around, did a little googling, all things I'm sure you've done. You're right, looks to be rarer.

If it is designed to have 6 blades, could it be an aftermarket piece you could buy for doing really nice lawns?
I bet it cuts great, take more power probably tho.

Got one similar to that a couple months ago, 3 blades, came with Satoh Beaver 4WD tractor; Everything works pretty well, except I sheared a bolt off one of the blades. Turns out to be a LH thread, probably 7/16ths, and really hard to find.

Had been painted and I could not get model/manufacturer name; now I know.... Probably still hard to get parts tho.

My guess: it's a mower deck made for a 1969/70 Roper-built Moto-Mower (similar to the early 70's sears suburban).

The following ad shows that around 1969, Moto-mower was owned by Kidde. About the same time the Moto-mower 710 and 716 models start showing up.

The time frame appears to be quite small - the next ad shows a different company for 1970:

Would be after 1967. I have a 1967 Moto-mower made by Dura.
