Did you misread the message or did I? The site is going to be down for a little while (a few hours)when we switch over to the new software..

Wow, talk about spreading rumors. Now it might not be available to you for two weeks since you started this but no the site is only going to be down over night Friday Feb. 10th 2012. We plan on having the forums back online asap which should be a couple of hours after we start the conversion. The rest of the site will be available as we get each section converted.

The forums themselves will take a couple of hours, we have a large database to convert along with over 26,000 attachments. The manuals section will be the second item to take nearly as long. Our total file storage space used by the site is up over 60GB.

I am hoping that we should have everything in place and working by Tuesday the 14th.

We will have bugs and quirks, there is no way around it so I might as well be up front about it. We just all need to work together to get everything to go as smoothly as possible.

Oh, whew, thought I would be in withdrawl. I didn't think it could take two weeks but George started the rumor... lol. You (George) said that GTTalk would be offline from January 29th 11 PM and wouldn't be back up until Feb 14th. Musta meant something else but I read it as two weeks, hope George revised it to make sense.. :bigrofl:

For Casey's reading, I have copied the announcement that was made. Granted the announcement is dated the 29th but that is when I posted it. If you read the contents this is what it says:

GTtalk will be down for maintenance starting Friday February 11th at 11pm. We can't promise the exact time the site will be back up but we are going to do our best to have everything back online within the shortest amount of time.

The reason for the maintenance is because we are changing the software that the site is running. There are many reasons behind the switch both from the administrative side and on the user end. We hope that everyone welcomes the changes and finds the site easier to use and more organized.

We are also going to be working on site how to videos which will be available sometime after the conversion to the new software is finished. We feel this will be a great asset for both new members and experienced members to help answer any commonly asked questions on how to do something on the site.

The only thing that may not be available right away is going to be the registry, if it isn't ready at the time of the conversion it will be ready not long after.

Sincerely,
GTtalk Staff

The only thing that I forgot to mention in the announcement is that it will take at least a couple of hours for the forums to be back up. The rest of the site will take a little longer.
