Anyone out there have a pattern layout of the 900 seat cover :worshippy1:? Bolen 1000 I do believe you had a seat cover on your 900? Did you make it yourself or have it made? My wife and I may tackle this problem in the next couple days.:wallbanging: Did not know if anyone had any insight to help the project? We bought some cheaper material to practice on for now till we get a good fit then we will go for the closest match material we can find.

That would be great if she did. I see a market out there for seat covers. Told my wife if we come up with a good cover I could probably sell a few.

There's a guy that sells them on eBay:
VINTAGE BOLENS LAWN TRACTOR SEAT CUSHION COVER, CUSTOM | eBay

He says "Bolens" but doesn't give any model numbers. He does show a seat pan though

I have seen his on e-bay. The 900 must have had a odd seat. Its not your normal tractor seat and it does not have the highback like the one on e-bay. I would call it a halfback. lol. I think the 1000 may have had this seat also.

The seat that was on the 900 was only produced for that model, so they are pretty hard to find.
The Bolens 1000 also used a "special" seat pan and cover that was only used for that Model. (thats one of the reasons I'm waiting to restore my 1000, I need to find an original seat pan)

I bought one of them a few years ago so I could get the pattern to make some.
Here's the "proto type 900 seat my mom made" along with the EK seat she made with my stolen pattern from the red seat on ebay :D

She done great job on those. My wife has bought some material that has a canvas backing with vinal. It was under $4.00 a yard. Maroon in color. The red I want was like $17.00 a yard. So guess which one we will be practicing on???

I bought one of them a few years ago ...

Would that fit on a 1256 and/or an 1886?

The seats on the 1886 and one of my 1256s are pretty ratty, and could stand some 'help'.

No, the 1256 used an entirely different pattern. The 1256 actually used 2 different style of seats.
It will not fit on the 1886 either

Well i got busy today and decided to sand the rust off the seat pan. It came off fast with my air sander. I then primered the seat pan. Went to town looking for valspar gloss 65004 almond spray paint as suggested by a fellow member. Lowes did not carry it. So I came home without. Got to reading Brians sticky again and he mentioned rustoleum gloss canvas white. Guess where i am going tomarrow? I remember picking this up and looking at it as a possibility. Brian? Were the fiberglass fenders painted from the factory on the 900's or were they just molded in the color that bolens used? My fender has aged to a cream color or maybe a more almond color. I like the white you have choose for the photo you had for your 800 but you had different fenders on your model. I guess I need more insight on the original color? Do I paint the fiberglass or leave it alone?

Are you going to save that foam? I would, It looks to be in decent condition.

The fenders were the same color as the hood, and I am pretty sure Bolens painted them.
Out of all the colors I was looking at the Gloss canvas white seems to be the closest match. You can also check out your local NAPA and ask them to see their color card if you want to use automotive paint.

If the prep work is done properly you should be very satisfied with the results of the Rustoleum. I painted my mower decks out of rustoleum and use my red one regularly and the paint hasn't chipped off in about 3 years of use.
Just remember that the fiber glass is like a sponge and it will take a few coats of paint to make it look good, I believe they make special fiberglass primers.

Yes the foam stays. it a little weak on the right side in the photo but since its molded i figured it could not be copied very well. Thanks for the brochure photo. I would like to find one of them on ebay. I have been looking but seem to see everything else. Can you send a photo of the cover of the brochure? may help in my search one one comes up.
Also thanks for the link about fiberglass. That was my next question.
