Thought I would say hi to everyone, give a little info on myself, and ask some newbie questions. Grew up with always having a John Deere riding mower around even though I never really thought about it. Guess my dad and neighbor may have had a few discussions about the merits of wheel horse vs John Deere now that I think of it.

Lived in a lake community till recently and never worried about anything other than a push mower for home and heavy equipment at work. But I still seemed to be the fix it guy for the neighbors since my hobbies were always toward the motorsports. Got married and moved to a house with a few acres and found you can not easily hand mow a few acres. Found a 455 diesel that I fell in love with, and, well the addiction may be starting.

Now time for the newbie questions: is there a rear pto option? What is a good 3-point for it?(and yes I am a cheap a$$). Can the mower be kept on when the 3 point is in use/installed?

And last but not least, all this is typed on my phone (no Internet....that rural) so please excuse any typo's

Welcome to GTTalk. As for the rear pto it will be hard to find a used one and not cheap when you do.

Just happen to have it and the simplicity in the garage.

Hope it comes through.

You can still get a 3 point from Deere, but it's expensive. Ruegg Manufacturing makes a good one for a lot less. Hitch Kits

What can I say????

But I was able to justify with the wife very easily. "The whole simplicity w/blower is cheaper than just the blower for the JD."

Welcome Endo. The 455 is areally nice machine. The diesel will use a lot less fuel than a similar HP gas engine. I had an x475 which is from the next generation of JD big GT's. The rear PTO bolts into the rear of the transmission and is a very pricey option. Check with your local JD dealer for current pricing. Unless you can find a used hitch or build one yourself the Ruegg mentioned above are a good choice.
