Its running. dont know what its problem was. wouldnt start this morning.
tried to fire the spare engine and noticed the starter did spin the motor over a little faster. Figured i would keep messing with it and checked the timing. Its about 16* out so ill have to tear into it over the summer
went back to the ht20d and removed the starter again. ive got a system so its pretty easy to pull out now without even taking the flywheel fan cover off. I think it will need a new armature soon but i just put it back together and stuck it in the tractor again. turned the key and it fired right up.
we'll see what happens when it gets cold again

Bolens HT20D headache

ok,thanks for the info. we have the cab and fenders off of ours. the fenders are pretty rusty so we wanted to get them painted.Thermostart i got from ebay for a ford tractor. Its a cheap easy modification since there is a plug in the intake already. If you search this forum for it youll see the thread. It gets the intake really hot. I would have liked it to be between the two intake ports but dont want to butcher a rare motor.
