Found and bought a sears 16/6 the other day. I'm not really a sears guy but it has the mower deck and a haban mid mount sickle mower with it. There is no rust on the tractor or really on the sickle either. The seat isn't even ripped yet. Couldn't past it up for the $. Always wanted a garden sized sickle bar. I'll try to post some pics for all in the next few days.

Welcome! Sounds like a nice tractor, especially with the sickle bar. We'll be watching for the pics.

Sounds like a great deal. Won't take you long to fall in love with the SS16. They are great machines.

Will be watching for the pics.

OK I have some pics right off the trailer tonight. Let me know what you think. Anyone know what year this may be. Are these sickles a factory option or after market. Sure has a hoss of an engine in it.7.jpg

You'll fall in love with that tractor. Yes those sickle bars were a factory item. Looks like a nice find! I sold one just like it a few years ago, and wish i had it back!

If you post all the #'s for it, someone should be able to get you close on a year. Nice tractor!

Nice find! Sears sold some fine tractors in that age.

... Are these sickles a factory option or after market. ...

A bit of both actually.

The mower was made by HABAN. It was just given a Sears number. All of the other HABAN Sickle-MOs were given Haban numbers, i.e 405 for the early Bolens tube frames, 405A for the later tube frames, 402a, c, d, e for various Cub Cadets, etc.

Nice machine, that is a 1977, one year model. Successor to the SS/16. That mower deck is 42" and the sickle bar is 48" and made by Haban, as previously stated.
