I have a 1978 Bolens Iseki TX 1500 serial number 103711
The motor numbers are 148 PS 3540
I found that this motor is a Mitsubishi.

Was wondering if anyone knows of a good place to get a overhaul kit for the motor.
I tried Sonnys bolens a month ago and still haven't heard from them.

Why go to a Bolens dealer, go straight to a Mitsubishi engine dealer

I could be totally wrong on this (a frequent occurrence), but I think that many Bolens diesel tractors were manufactured by Iseki. If that is so perhaps you will have some luck by contacting a company that markets Iseki tractors.

The tractor is an Iseki, but did Iseki use their own engines or one manufactured by Mitsubishi or another manufacture. I think it is very likely that the engine is a Mitsubishi and the reason I recommended cross referencing with Iseki tractors is that you may find better luck searching for parts and information by looking at sites that support the Iseki tractors. I would hope that you can find an Iseki tractor similar enough to your Bolens that you can work from the same engine information.

You could be right, but I don't recall ever hearing of Iseki branded engines. I do know that Iseki is one of those brands that have been commonly imported as grey market tractors. That would mean that there is probably not a direct factory authorized dealer network in this country but the guys that deal with the greys would probably be a good source of information and (hopefully) parts. They must get them from somewhere.

Thanks to everyone for the help.:smile1:

The Iseki engines were installed in the Deutz and some White full size farm tractors. The Iseki brand is based out of Japan. But there are branches in Australia, Europe, and the United Sates. The US version of this brand is the FMC Bolens. The FMC Bolens name is designated to only the US version of this machine that is going to be sold in the US. The only difference between the two machines is the decal on the hood. If it was sold overseas the deacl read Iseki but in the US it read Bolens.

I went to the web site www.repairmanuals4u.com and I found that they have a CD that I could order. On it is the operator manual, the service manual, and the the complete parts manual with all of the parts numbers for every bolt and part on it.

 I'd like to say thanks to everyone that help out. :smile1:
