my MF 165 1972 has not used it's power takeoff for a few years. it will not stop turning when the clutch is engaged. any ideas.

The pto clutch plate has stuck to the pressure plate. About all you can do is hook the pto up to say a bush hog, or anything that can put a load on it, push the clutch in, then keep raising throttle sharply, then back down again. cycle this several times & it may break loose. BUT, be sure the 2nd stage clutch is adjusted correctly first. When you push clutch down for trans, you should be able to feel when the pedal engages the pto clutch. The pto clutch should engage at least within 1" of the foot board. If closer than that, it likely needs adjusted.
