Looks good. I should do that on mine sometime. Mine has no brace and is solid when the bolts are tight but the bolts loosen often.

Does your column go in the box or does it go around it and have a clamp? You should deffinetly make one, it can be as simple or as complex as you want!

I have the older cast iron steering box with the column that goes around the outside with a clamp. When I repainted my tractor I tried to take it apart but I couldn't. Here are a few pictures of when I got it. It was braced to the dash. Last picture is more recent.
