Got 2 new, rear, used caps from Bobs lawn and garden, first photo is before i cleaned them, they cleaned up pretty good. Thanks Bob and I got the 10% discount for being a member here on the sight. Now to make the rest of the mower someday look as good as the caps. I had priced new caps and a set of 4 was $420.00. Bob let me have these back 2 with shipping for $35.00. If anyone has 2 very good front caps for sale, let me know. I have cleaned the fronts 3 times now so I don't thin kthey are going to get any better unless I replate them.

Thanks but the photo makes the front one look better then it is. Right now I am going for the original look. I have a rare :bigrofl:untouched matching numbers:smile1: bolens 900, except for two hubcaps and a light switch replacement. Might not be in the A.J Foyt Bolens $40,000.00 range but hey who knows.

Lets see now? $319.99 for a new, non matching, set of caps on e-bay, That makes my 2 back ones $160.00 new???? so used ones should go $80.00?? Got my used ones for $30.00, Guess I feel I did alright!!

Man, I've been debating trying to find chrome center caps for a while. I finally decided to spend just a few bucks and try the chrome lug nut caps on the panzer. Just seemed like a shame to cover up the nice white paint that was just done. Will see how it goes. Found 3/4 inch covers for the lugs and 1 1/8 inch for the big center nut. They should come any day now. Will see. But you inspired me.

Usually the chrome caps without a name on, sell for pretty cheap.
The caps with the Bolens name on them seem to go for over $300+

What year did the caps with bolens on them come out? Are we talking early 70's? Was the plain ones offered at the same time as the scripted ones and you had a choice?

Bolens started out using blank caps, then switched to the caps with the logo in them so your 900 has the correct caps for the time period.

I'm not 100% sure when the switch began but I'd say its probably around 1972 the switch was made

thanks for the info that was what i was thinking. Have you seen the NOS John Deere caps that are selling on e-bay?
http://www.ebay.com/...984.m1423.l2649
Might be fun to see how much these go for in comparison to the Bolens caps?
