We got the valve spring compressor but are waiting for the valve and retainers to get here which should be Monday.

While I am thinking about it, does anyone know what the clearances are supposed to be on this engine? If not I will do some digging and see if I can find it.


Here's a spec sheet for L-head Briggs.

Posting this from my phone but had a chance to work on this thing today. Got the old valve out and part of it did wear off. You can see the little piece in the picture.

Got the new valve clearance set and then lapped it. Cleaned the lapping compound and then checked the clearance again. Put everything back together and it runs great. Sounds like a two stroke between the muffler that is on it and the blower.
