Hello All!!!! Merry X-Mas and Happy Hanukkah to all. I took this week off from work to try and finish the Cub but it just didnt happen. The weather is crap for painting here in MI so its been a slow process. I am going to put up a video of my newly installed linear actuator. Works slick. The mounting plate I made has a little flex to it, so I think I am going to have to support it to the frame on the other side. Once I figure it out I will take some pics. Anyways here is the video. Ill follow that with some pics that I havent posted yet. More to follow.

Nice looking tractor. I'll be following this thread cause I'm just starting a refurb on my 109. It is a little rougher than yours to start with, but I'll have longer to have fun with the refurb....right!

Here is a short clip of my actuator just after I installed it. This is my first time trying this with video, so please bear with me.

Got the primer on and shot the first coat of flat black on some of the big parts.. I also started prepping the engine for some flat black high heat enamel. First time using it. Your supposed to put it in the oven to finish it but Im going to have to improvise. I figure if I spend an hour or two going over it with a heat gun it should dry it just fine. Ill apply one more coat of flat black on the parts in the tarp booth and I can move it around the tractor and start on that.I figure if things continue on the same path I should have it done in a couple of weeks. Hopefully before we have any big snows. Knock on wood.

All,
Ive been looking at small single cylinder diesel engines as a possible replacement for the K241. If I stick to the same HP rating do you think the Hydro would be ok??

Im not trying to advertise for Rust Oleum either. Just trying to show what I used. Nothing fancy here. Just paint from one of the major home improvement stores.

Coming along nicely. Where did you get the helper spring for the lift-arm?

I believe I bought the spring at The Home Depot. They are in the tool section. I can measure it tomorrow for you if you'd like. Also here are a couple more pics. Lemme know when you guys get sick of them.

I don't think you'd have any problems at all. Cub Cadet Corp put a 15HP diesel in the 782/882 and IH put up to a 17HP twin kohler in their version of the 782 and the hydro was the same pump and motor setup that you have in your's. They are built pretty stout to take a good bit of abuse.

Thanks for the info IHCubGuy. I kinda thought it would handle it but you never know. I wish they built things today like they did my cub.

I believe Im found my oil leak finally. The head gasket is crap. Lucky for me I have a huge cub\tractor dealership less than a mile from home. New head gasket here I come.

No problem at all. Almost all air cooled 4 cycle small engines run at roughly 34oo-3600 rpms regardless if they are 5 hp or 25 hp.
