Came across this and thought I'd share it looks like a pretty good tool.The Lewis Winch, a portable winch, uses the Ground Anchor to pull a large rock - YouTube

Thanks for the video,pretty cool.Although I'm not sure a chain saw would have enough power for most things a winch is needed for.

Thanks, I agree that a chain saw may not be strong enough on every day things. I'd like to see what it would do with a truck or jeep down a steep embankment.

My friend has a homemade one that's very similar that he uses out west when he goes elk hunting, makes dragging a bull up over a mountain much easier. He doesn't use an anchor, he just straps it to a tree.

that would be handy if you have a bunch of rocks that need to be moved LOL .
