:wave:Well i found out why the JD 317 was a little slow on starting one of the magnets is broke. Has anyone ever tried to replace one.

I've had them come loose & put them in place using JB Weld, or high strength slow cure epoxy. If not broken into a jillion pieces, you can glue it all back in place. Epoxy works a bit easier due to it's not quite as thick as JB Weld.

will got the magnets back in place now to find bushings as they are worn

If the bushings were worn bad, that could have caused the armature to hit the magnets, breaking them.

New bushing and brushes out back together an on tractor. Man did they every rob me they charged $10.00 for all of it. I thanked them 3 times.

Man that's an awesome deal. We want to get a couple of our starters rebuilt. I am hoping we can get just as lucky. I know ours will be a little more due to having to get them rewound but that's nice
