I got to see it before it was restored.  Part of an epic road trip with my son.

Will generously re-assembled the Elf and help pose it for a couple pictures.

Have you shared your progress with Claus?  What does he think of what you have accomplished?

Will, it is terrific that you were able to get an Elf from overseas and bring it over on this side of the pond. To restore it that quick is even more amazing and you did an awesome job on it and your write up. Thanks for sharing the stories with us.

A great story!  I saw several Gutbrod Tractors when I was stationed in Germany in the late 80's.  I wasn't into GTs then, sure wish I had been--I could have shipped one to the States as part of my Household goods...

I've read up on the Gutbrod through Google--they made an amazing range of GTs that had all the features of full blown tractors--just like you said...

The trailer is a similar concept to the ones the Koreans use with their walk-behind DaeDong (same co. as Kioti) tractors.  They also have a live axle and drive shaft that connects to the PTO on the tractor.  The tractor has an 11 or 13 hp horizontal cylinder diesel engine, and all types of shafts, Pulleys, etc.

Just curious, how much did it cost to ship it across the pond???

Regards,

Smitty

Great story Will,  thanks for taking the time to put it together along with the pictures and specs.  Not many of us can share a "one of a kind" story like that!!

Thanks everyone for all the kind words, and interest in

this project of mine. I got a lot of help and input through out the restoration, from quite a few of you members. You know

who you are ( I'm afraid I might forget someone), so, THANKS.

As I said in the article, well, in a kind of a roundabout way.

This site is a great place.

Oh, Smitty.

I can't remember, and I burnt the invoice, so I wouldn't

have to remember. LOL

That's how much.

Is there any way at all that you can mail a flash drive or CD with these photos on it for a feature story?
